On February 10, 2018, nineteen church choirs joined together in the Sacramento area’s first multi-faith, day long church choir festival – SacSings Sacred – a celebration of diversity and music.

Tickets were free, and there was no charge to the choirs to perform. But that doesn’t mean that there were no expenses. Costs were covered (barely) through on-site donations, the very generous support of a few churches and sacrificial labor of several volunteers.
And now everyone who went through this inspiring, exhilarating experience is clamoring to do it again in 2019. Besides these 19 choirs, there are 150+ more choirs of religious organizations in the Sacramento area, many of whom, when invited to participate replied: “It doesn’t work for us this year, but we’d love to be involved next year.”
So… will there be a SacSings Sacred in 2019? Perhaps, and your help can guide this decision. The Sacramento Valley Choral Coalition considers many projects and priorities as it undertakes its broad mission to promote the spectrum of choral organizations and choral singing throughout the Sacramento region.
Each project, such as SacSings Sacred, carries a significant risk and the Coalition board strives to establish a solid foundation to ensure the event's success. With a solid financial reserve, the board can confidently plan for the next SacSings Sacred in 2019.
The Board is excited to commit to SacSings Sacred 2019 – if there is a strong financial backing to the event. If we can raise $5,000 by March 15, 2018, the Board can confidently schedule SacSings Sacred now and begin planning later in the summer. The strength of your response will certainly influence the likelihood and timing of the next SacSings Sacred.
Nearly 500 singers and 19 choirs participated in the first SacSings Sacred – not to mention many hundreds of audience members. There are at least 130 more church choirs in the Sacramento area and thousands of singers. If enough of them care to make SacSings Sacred an annual event, it will be.
